Aircraft Hangars

In our wide range of prefabricated buildings, we also offer spatial solutions for the aviation industry. We design, manufacture, and install hangars for aircraft storage as well as maintenance hangars (MRO hangars). The aircraft hangars are prefabricated with a galvanized steel structure, covered either with insulated panels (as an insulated steel structure building) or with a durable, UV-protected, flame-retardant PVC membrane (as a fabric structure).

Advantages of Using Schwarzmann Hangars in the Aviation Industry

Schwarzmann hangars offer complete flexibility based on their intended use and the type of aircraft they are designed for. The steel structure components are dimensionally optimized for production, hot-dip galvanizing, transport, and assembly. On-site, they are quickly assembled and bolted into the building’s load-bearing structure. This is followed by the installation of the substructure and roofing. Delivery times are therefore shorter compared to traditional construction.

Advantages:

  • Adaptability: Custom-built hangars for various uses
  • Flexibility: Design tailored to the type of aircraft
  • Long lifespan: Structure protected by hot-dip galvanizing
  • Efficient construction: Fast and easy assembly
  • Fixed price guarantee: Transparent project valuation
  • Extensive expertise: Proven experience and reference projects

Aircraft come in various shapes and sizes, and your hangar must be appropriately designed to meet its purpose and accommodate your aircraft type. At Schwarzmann, we understand the importance of flexibility in aviation infrastructure. Our hangars are designed to accommodate different types of aircraft, from small private planes to larger commercial jets. We work closely with you to gather the necessary information based on your aircraft’s characteristics, enabling us to tailor the designs, equipment, and timelines to the specific needs of your hangar.

Together with you, we determine the optimal distances, door dimensions, and maneuvering space required for each type of aircraft. We consider factors such as wingspan, tail height, and overall dimensions. Our shared goal is to create a functional and safe environment for servicing or storing your aircraft.

In addition, our hangars can be customized to include various additional features, such as bridge cranes and extra storage areas for spare parts and tools. By incorporating these elements, we create a comprehensive facility that enables efficient maintenance and servicing. Whether you need a hangar for short-term storage or long-term maintenance, Schwarzmann’s flexible designs protect your aircraft and ensure smooth operations.

Efficient Construction – Quick and Easy Assembly

Traditional construction methods can be time-consuming and costly. At Schwarzmann, we have refined the hangar construction process with our approach. Our steel segments are pre-assembled and easily attached to the columns, significantly reducing time and costs. Compared to conventional construction, our aircraft hangar is completed in a much shorter time.

The steel components are precisely manufactured in well-equipped production facilities, followed by quality control to ensure the high-quality execution of the final hangar and smooth construction flow. These components are delivered to the site, where our skilled team of technicians efficiently assembles them. This systematic approach eliminates the need for on-site part fabrication, minimizes disruptions, and ensures a seamless construction process. All our processes are certified according to ISO 9001 standards.

Our construction sites are often located within active airports. This work environment requires an experienced team capable of effectively managing the unique set of challenges associated with this type of specialized construction.

We work closely with airport managers and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) during the permitting process, ensuring that all specific requirements of both the airports and EASA are met. On-site, we maintain constant communication with the investor’s personnel and airport officials to coordinate staff and equipment, ensuring that construction activities do not disrupt airport operations.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why choose a Schwarzmann hangar?

The Schwarzmann team, with its experience, expertise, and precision, ensures the preparation of the conceptual design, planning, and execution of a custom-made hangar tailored to your needs.

  • For which types of aircraft are Schwarzmann hangars suitable?

All of our hangars are custom-built, meaning we take your specific needs, installation location, aircraft type, and local regulations into account when preparing the conceptual design and project.

  • What span widths can your hangars offer?

We can offer hangar spans without intermediate columns up to 90 meters.

  • What materials are used in the construction of a Schwarzmann hangar?

We use steel profiles for the structure, which are additionally protected by hot-dip galvanizing. The structure is then covered with either a high-quality, flame-retardant PVC membrane or insulated panel sheets.

  • How long does it take to complete a hangar project?

The duration of hangar construction depends on the project size, the complexity of site preparation, and the installation of additional equipment. A detailed project timeline is always prepared based on the scope of work. All of our projects are completed within the agreed timeline, provided there are no changes to the project or additional work orders during the course of the project.
