Project for Servicing Passenger Wagons for SBB

Schwarzmann designed and constructed an insulated steel building specifically tailored to the requirements of SBB – Swiss Federal Railways (Schweizerische Bundesbahnen). The facility is optimized for puttying and painting wagons, allowing simultaneous servicing on two tracks with precisely aligned entry and exit points along the track axes. The construction was carried out on a restricted site, addressing challenges such as the proximity of railway cables and poles.

Technical Challenges:

  • Connection to Existing Infrastructure: Two sides of the steel building are integrated with existing buildings, requiring meticulous planning and execution.
  • Limited Access and Space: Construction took place in a confined area, minimizing disruptions to the operational railway infrastructure.
  • Specific Requirements: Seamlessly designed entry and exit points aligned with the track axes to ensure smooth servicing procedures.

Key Advantages of the Hall:

  • Precisely Tailored Construction: Custom-built to meet the high standards of the railway industry.
  • Durability and Robustness: The steel structure is hot-dip galvanized, providing weather resistance and a long service life.
  • Functional Integration: Easy connection to existing buildings enhances logistical efficiency.
