Biplast, one of the leading thermoplastics injection moulding companies in the region, planned the construction of a larger business complex in the Mengeš industrial zone in Slovenia, to support its business expansion. Initially, the company did not consider a steel structure for the project. However, after reviewing some of Schwarzmann reference projects, they decided to proceed with the construction as a multi-purpose steel hall.
The conceptual design was prepared by their chosen architectural firm, while Schwarzmann developed the technical solutions for the execution phase. During the design process, we ensured compliance with all fire safety requirements applicable to plastics manufacturing. The structure was over-dimensioned and specifically engineered to meet fire safety standards and the functional needs of the client.
The production and storage area, measuring 26 × 68 meters, is divided into two sections. The production area was designed to accommodate the installation of an overhead crane. The office section is a smaller, two-level structure measuring 15 × 15 meters. The building was delivered with integrated features, including windows, blinds, glass walls, and all external sectional and pedestrian doors. The facility features a gabled roof with parapet walls and provisions for solar panel installation, allowing the company to produce a significant portion of its energy needs on-site.
The multi-purpose business facility showcases a modern design, combining various facade materials such as insulated panels in different colours and a glass wall. This functional and safe steel building provides the company with the ideal environment to continue its growth.
